Kim Meagher Reed, our senior optician, has been in the field since 1972. As an active member in our community, many patients recognize her warm smile and stop by just to say “Hello!” American Board certified in 1978, she joined the KOA team in 1996. She loves helping patients find the best frame fit, style and lens for their needs. Kim is well versed in complicated prescriptions and can comfortably guide patients with complex needs. She has extensive knowledge in lens design and excels in troubleshooting. Her patience and diligence in creating solutions is highlighted by her sincere care toward each patient, which rewards her with a loyal following.
Valerie Brock has been with Kittery Optometric since 1995. She became licensed with the American Board of Opticianry in 1994. She is our lead lab optician and provides high quality workmanship in all she does. Val spends most of her time either edging/fabricating glasses or doing quality assurance inspections. We rely on her to keep the lab running smoothly. She makes sure equipment is regularly calibrated and maintained, jobs are on time, and patients are notified. When she helps out on the dispensing floor, you are sure to receive the same attention and expertise. Through her professionalism and high quality standards, it’s obvious that takes pride in her work.
Liz Rodgers, our lab manager, started in the optical business in 2003, joining KOA in 2008. She achieved her American Board Certification with high honors in 2012. She loves her job which is clear by her cheerful service, and attention to detail. Liz is well versed in all aspects of opticianry: frame and lens selection, edging & fabrication, quality assurance inspections and perhaps her favorite: masterful repairs.
Kimberly “K2″ Masset has been an optician for 20+ years, learning the business from the ground up. We are lucky she joined us in 2012. Kim is scrupulous about choosing the best lens design when crafting your order. She assists with the quality assurance inspecting and holds tightly to quality control guidelines. She has a friendly and eager-to-help attitude, with a great rapport with all ages, and an especially wonderful manner with our elderly patients and children. More and more patients are coming in requesting “K2.″
Virginia Black Virginia Black started in the field of opticianry in June of 2014. She went on to become licensed with the American Board of Opticianry the following year, joining our staff the same day she passed her exam. She is knowledgeable in frame styling, lens selection, repairs and adjustments. She assists in all areas of the lab, including quality assurance inspections. Virginia is quick to smile and very personable. She is a quick learner and enjoys the challenge of unique and complex prescriptions. She is a great asset to our team.
Samantha Crosby, Samantha joined us in March of 2018 with a history of optical experience. She strives to ensure every patient finds glasses that they genuinely feel good in. She works to make the search for a new pair of glasses fun and enjoys finding a frame that someone loves, so they don’t just have to wear glasses, but want to wear them! Samantha’s optical knowledge is the backbone of her ability to educate patients, helping them feel comfortable they have made the best decisions. She really loves having fun with those who visit KOA and wants her patients to be excited about picking up their new glasses!
