What to Expect

We take great pride in providing a thorough examination of your vision, as well as the health of your eyes & visual system to ensure a lifetime of the best vision you're capable of!

A typical visit in our office is scheduled for 30-minutes, the majority of which is spent face-to-face with your Doctor. We strive to adhere closely to our appointed schedule, so barring emergencies and other unforeseen circumstances, our patients have generally come to expect punctual service in our office. This nonetheless depends on 'mutual' effort, so we ask that you do your best to arrive promptly 10-15 minutes before your appointed visit in order to update medical history & applicable insurance information. We'll do our very best to respect your time and make your experience in our office timely & efficient!

Your eye exam will generally consist of the following:

  • A historical review of your visual needs & general health

  • Determination of your ideal visual function and contingent eyeglasses and/or contact lens use

  • Evaluation of your visual system & eye-muscle functions as they relate to normal neurological health

  • Microscopic examination of all ocular tissues, which may include dilation of your pupils as necessary. If you've never had your pupils dilated with eye-drops, please be aware it may temporarily blur your vision and create light-sensitivity, so you should consider coordinating your visit with a friend or family member for transportation and bring sunglasses with you

  • Measurement of your eye pressure -- don't worry, we don't use the “air-puff” test and instead, prefer a more precise & comfortable method

  • Other tests as warranted such as eye-curvature mapping, digital photography of your eye structures, peripheral vision sensitivity, topographical imaging of the optic nerve & retina, etc. . . . some of which may be rescheduled in coordination with a future office visit if necessary
